The boat cave needs a fire door

When the fire department came to do their inspections, they told me that I would need a fire door on the boat cave. I need to build this door before I get the final inspection from the building inspector. The door will need to be solid wood 1.75 inches thick. I hope to build the door next weekend, so here is a before picture.

What kind of Fire Rating are you shooting for? I assume it's a 45 minute door in a 1 hour wall?

The walls in the boat cave are 10 inch concrete and the ceiling in the cave is 8 inch pre-stressed concrete planks with 4 inches of concrete on top of the planks.

The building inspector says I need a 20 minute door, he also said that the door needs to be 1.75 inches solid wood.

Ah, a 20 minute door is basically a smoke partition. You might need to put a gasket of somekind (ie, weatherstriping) around the jamb to prevent smoke from transfering from one side to the other, but shouldn't need extra hardware like automatic closers and the like.

The building inspector told me I did not need automatic closers, but he did not tell me I needed weather striping. I will not install it until he tells me I needed it.
