We also visited the Badlands

The Badlands were interesting, but the hiking was bad. The trails and paths were washed out. I think that is why it is called the Badlands.
After the Badlands we stopped at Wall Drugs. Wall Drug was a small drug store in Wall, South Dakota in 1931. The owner used to sit on the porch and watch the cars heading to Rapid City (60 miles west) or to Sioux Falls (293 miles east). At his wife's suggestion he put up a sign on the road advertising free ice water. Before he got back to the drug store, the store had filled up with people drinking free ice water and buying ice cream. Now there are signs from one end of South Dakota to the other and the store has expanded to cover at least an acre, selling tourist stuff.
