Ramp to the front door

Dick built us a temporary ramp from the new front porch to the old front door. We think he wants us to get used to entering the house from the garage.

Windows

The windows arrived today and Dick got them installed. It looks like a lot of windows. This picture is taken from a location accross the lake. The original picture was enlarged and cropped.

Where should the toilet go?

Dave is demonstrating where we should put the toilet. Dick had drawn an outline of the toilet on the new bathroom floor, and Dave said he got it wrong. If we swap the toilet and the shower, you will get a better view.

The Moving Crew

Today we moved Lauren's stuff from the old house to the attic of the new house. We have Denise, KerryLee, Linda and David to help, (no Lauren). We aslo moved the skeeball, washer and dryer. Only 50 more loads to go.

New Deck without snow

Here is a picture of the new deck with out the snow.

Kitchen windows are in.

Dick installed most of the kitchen windows yesterday. In this picture you can see the four double hung windows and a tempoary window where the sink will be. The kitchen area got a lot warmer once the new windows were installed. Before the windows went in, there was ice forming on the inside of the old windows.
Also in this picture is the new roof on the 3 season porch and a new deck (under the snow).

Dick is going to install the new kitchen windows today. I hope we can still use the room. In this picture he has started to remove the old windows.

New Front Porch

The work has started on the front porch. The copper flashing is used with the new pressure treated wood, because the chemicals in the wood will eat the aluminum flashing.

We have a door and a window

Dick has installed a door and a window in the basement. Our new electrical service has been completed. Every little bit helps.

New Electric Service

The house's electrical service was upgraded in 1972. We had the 100 amp service replaced with a 200 amp service. The upgrade also required that the connection to the house be 12 ft off of the ground, so we got a "mast". The electric company will come in later to clean up the wires at the top of the mast.

The decking was oiled

Yesterday Dick treated all of the material for the deck with an oil. This was done before the decking was installed so that the bottom of the decking was sealed.

Floors

The floors for the outside decks have arrived. Dick can't finish the roof until it gets a little warmer, so he started on the front porch and back deck.
We used the three season porch this weekend to party with the old neighbors. We had stir fry. 

More Bay Window

The mess around the bay window demolition is gone.

Before and After Bay Window

There was a large bay window on the end of the original house. When Dick started to build the addition, he installed a wall in back of the window, so he could take out the window with out making the house cold.
The addition now covers the window, and Dick removed the window yesterday.

Obstructed View

When we sit for coffee in the morning lately, our view is a little cluttered with staging.
