Floor Plan

This is the floor plan for the new house. The rooms on the left (Bedroom #2, Den, Dining Room and Kitchen) are in the old part of the house, The rooms on the right ( Living Room, Bedroom #1, Bath and the Garage) are the new addition. We will be moving into the old part of the house shortly. You should be able to click on the floor plan to get a larger image.

Roofing in the snow.

Dick seems to always turn his back to the camera. With any luck the roof will be done before any more snow falls.

Snow and the Deck

We got about 4 inches of snow over the past weekend. I'm not ready for winter yet. I still have junk in the backyard of the old house that needs to be moved to the new house.
Dick has started to work on the deck that goes on the lakeside of the house. The screened in porch is at the far end of the deck.

Will the Trill at the Whalom House

Will and Lauren visited the whalom house this weekend. They are in the attic looking into the garage.

The Lamp Post.

When we bought the house, it had a beautiful lamp and post by the driveway. We loved the lamp, but the post was rotten. I removed the lamp and post for save keeping while we were building. Over the summer, I repaired the lamp and build a replacement lamp post. Today I brought the new lamp post to the new house to store it until we could install it. When Dick saw the post, he had me put it on the front porch and said that we needed three more.

View from attic out the garage.

This is a view from the attic out one of the garage doors. When we start to finish off the interior of the garage, there will be a wall put up that will block this view.

Looking out the front door.

This is a picture looking out of the front door. The old part of the house is on the right, and there are closets on each side of the front door.

Roof on the front of the house.

The dormer on the front of the roof is in. The attic will have great views.

Front Door

We have been in Florida for the past 5 days. Dick has got some more of the roof up, and the start of the front door. The old front door (it's in back of the tree in this picture) will be replaced with a window, after the addition is complete.

Attic with a view.

We are going to have an attic with a view. The view is in back of the green step ladder.

Stairs to the attic.

Dick has built the stairs to the attic. He is using them to install the rafters and the roof. From this picture, can you figure out where the entrance to the attic stairs will be located?

The roof is starting to go up

The roof is started and Dick is building stairs to the attic.

We are starting to move.

We are cleaning up the old house so that we can sell it. As we clean it up, we are moving stuff to the new house. Here ia a picture of some of the boxes that we have moved out of the old house. I think we only have 75 more boxes to go.

Our own Home Improvement Show

There is a big window in the old part of the house that looks onto the construction. We had a sofa set up at the window. I was like having your own, private, high definition, wide screen , live action building show.
And I finaly got a picture of the star of the show, Dick. Dick is standing in the garage on the new garage floor. With the completion of the garage floor, I'm out of the contracting business.

The Front of the garage has arrived.

Dick has set up the front garage wall. Dick builds the walls on the floor and then uses two poles with winches on them to stand up the wall. You can see the poles in this picture.

You will notice that this two car garage looks like a barn with an attached shed. This configuration for the garage makes it so the garage will not over power the house. I have a star lamp left over from the New Hampshire house that I think I will install in the window over the garage door.

Today the garage floor is being poured, I should have pictures of that tomorrow.

Grouting the garage floor.

Ben and Kerry Lee came to visit today, and I put them to work.
I mixed the grout,

Ben put the grout into the keyway between the cement planks and Kerry Lee took pictures.

Next time I need to make sure we get a picture of Kerry Lee. We used 6 bag of grout to complete the floor. Later this week, a cap of concrete and wire mesh will be added to the floor, and the floor will be complete.

Then the boats will go under the garage floor into the "BOAT CAVE"
