New Baby!!

Ben and KerryLee had a baby girl yesterday!! Marie Jane was born on 27 September 2006 at 12:00 am. She weight in at 6 lb 8 oz. The mother and baby are doing well and should be home sometime this weekend.

Updated picture of the lakeside.

Dick has finished with the deck, and the screening has been installed under the deck. Harry is painting the trim. We are about done on the outside of the house.

The old kitchen.

The old kitchen has been gutted, I feel like we are starting over. I still need to take down some molding and a closet and deal with the old floor and old plumbing.

Saturday morning coffee.

The neighbors came over on Saturday morning for coffee. I put them to work removing kitchen cabinets. I had to slow them down abit, so I could save the old cabinets.

Taking apart the old kitchen.

I started to take apart the old kitchen. If you need a harvest gold sink or a harvest gold stove, let me know quickly. I also have a small dish washer that is sitting in the driveway. 

Outside almost done.

We have all of the new windows installed, and most of the siding and trim installed. The outside of the house should be complete by the end of the week. 

Osprey day 2.

The osprey was back again today to have breakfast with us, and I could not resist taking another picture. More house pictures tomorrow. 

More wildlife at the lake.

This is a picture of an osprey fishing at the lake. The osprey shows up in the spring and fall during their migration. Like most of my wild life pictures, the animal is fasing the other way. 

Oiling the counter.

Here is Debbie, Diane and Linda oiling the counter top. The counter is made of soapstone. This is the same stuff that is used on the old chemistry lab benches. When the counter has been oiled it takes on a darker color.

If you look carefully Diane is just watching, and thats Brian's hand that is oiling.

Will tests out the new floors.

Will stopped in for a visit this morning, and proceeded to test out all of the new floors . He liked to walk in the porch, but he really liked to walk in the loop from the old kitchen, to TV room to the new kitchen.

Bedroom windows day 2.

Dick installed the bedroom windows yesterday, and will be finishing the siding today.

Bedroom windows.

Dick removed the old bedroom windows today. It's a little cold outside, we hope that he gets the new windows installed before tonight.

Final coat of tung oil for the floors.

When the floors were installed, we put two coats of tung oil on the floors to protect them. While we continued to work on the house, the floors were scratched. This weekend, we lightly sanded the floors, and put down the third coat of tung oil on the floors in the house.


We also stained the floors in the sun room, and put down two coats of tung on on them.

Lights for the kitchen.

I ordered a couple sample lights to see if I liked them. I mounted the light in the kichen. Then I tried to find a light switch that would turn on the light, no luck.

I then put a sample light in the front corner of the big room (we have been calling this section of the room, the music room or the door to the garage). There was no power to check the light.

Finally I went to put a sample light in the bedroom. There was no power, and the wiring for the light switch and electrical box wasn't correct.

We ordered the additional lights anyway.

Back to the siding.

Dick has started to work on the siding on the old part of the house. We will be getting new windows to replace the old windows. And it is time to mow the lawn again.

Back from vacation.

No posts last week, we were on vacation in Montana at Glacier Park. We had a wonderful time.


While we were away the deck railing was installed.
