Dining Table Extensions. (part 1)

Linda wants a couple of extension tables for our dining room table. We had and idea for what we wanted, so I made a couple of prototypes to make sure I had it right. One extension table prototype has three legs and one prototype has 4 legs. We thought that the 3 legged table would be less stable that the 4 legged table. Both of the extension tables were a little unstable, so I will need to find a way to attach the extension tables to the main table. With the extension tables attached we should be able to have 8 people to sitting at the dining room table. The two extension table can also be connected together to create a round table.

More Wildlife

We had two Broad Wing Hawks visiting for a short time. By the time I got my camera out, one of them was gone.

I have put in 500 square feet of insulation in the old attic. I still need another 500 square feet. Here is a before and after pictures of the old attic. I am installing R-30 (9") on top of the 6 inches that is already there.

Getting ready for winter.

There are a number of projects that I am trying to complete before winter gets here. One of the projects is to add insulation to the attic over the old section of the house. The new section of the house has good up-to-date insulation, but the old house has 1940-1960 insulation. The first thing I needed to do is to cut an entrance from the new section of the house to the old section of the house. The picture below shows the connection point in the attic where the old outside of the old house can be seen from the attic of the new house. The old house section has about 3" of old blown-in insulation covered by a 3" inch layer of fiberglass insulation between the 2"x8"s. I plan on covering everything with 12" fiberglass insulation running at a 90 degree angle to the 2"x8"s. The new hole between the attics let me move a number of large rolls of insulation into the old attic. (you can just see the rolls at the end of the attic.
