Rhododendron in the front yard.

The bush is about 10 feet tall and 20 feet long, and covered with flowers. You can get an idea of the size of the bush by comparing it to the boat in the front yard.

Removing bushes from the driveway.

This weekend I did some more gardening. We had a lot of bushes along the driveway, and I had removed most of them. I still had one section left.

I grabbed the bush with the backhoe on the tractor and drove away with the bush. The bush was taken to the local yard waste collection.

As a distraction in my gardening: My truck would not start at the dump, so I had to walk home, get the jumper cables and a ride back to the dump to get the truck. Then a trip to get a new battery for the truck. Now back to gardening.

I then cleaned out the stumps and roots, rototilled the bed, and we are ready to plant some different bushes.
To be continued:

Another view of the bird tree.

The trees have turned green. We also bought 2 replacement tables for the deck. The last table we had was blown over and destroyed 45 minutes after we put the new umbrella in it. These tables are smaller and we will not use the umbrella.

Camera visiting in Portland.

I have not been posting lately because I left my camera in Portland, and Linda's camera has a dead battery and is missing the charger. I have been working on the closet in the guest bedroom, planting bushes and planting grass. So progress has not stopped, we just can document it with pictures.

More news on the wildlife front: The fox family has left for parts unknown, and a goose family (mom, pop and 6 kids) have moved in.

I have included a picture that I took earlier this spring. This is our bird tree. There is a crow at the top of the tree, an osprey a little lower and a blue heron on the special branch.

Saturday muffins

At the teen center fall gala, Linda purchased a "Month of Muffins" from one of the teen center fund raiser. The "Month of Muffins" was donated by Diane (seen holding the basket). The Month of Muffins arrives on each Saturday in a month at 8:00 am. The first Saturday Linda, Diane, Brian and I had nice warm muffins for breakfast. The next weekend Louis, Rich, Genie, Jack and Diane attended breakfast. On the Third weekend we had additional neighbors, as well as Ben and Kerrylee. The picture in this post is of the last weekend. The last weekend included a full brunch supplied by Linda. The way the neighborhood ate the muffins you would think that they were never feed.

Fox Family

We have a fox family living next door. There are two adults and 5 pups. This is a picture of the adult male. I'll try to get a picture of the cubs, but my camera is in Portland Maine and Linda's camera needs to be charged, and we don't know where the charger is.

The tree died.

This weekend I had to take down a tree in the front yard. We had been trying to save the tree since we moved into the house. But will all of the construction and a brown spot infection the tree failed to send out buds this year.

With the help of a Ben and Rich, I got the tree on the ground, and proceeded to cut it into firewood.

Most of the small branches got trucked away to the yard waste collection site.

Breakfast with an osprey.

We have a spring and fall visitor. The osprey shows up in the spring for a short visit and in the fall when it is heading south. Today it stopped at the lake for a fish breakfast. The picture was taken with the hand held Panasonic fx9 auto focuse camera through one side of a hand held 10 power binocular. Then the picture was enlarged for the blog.
