The rest of the kitchen counters are here.

When the counter installation crew came last they did not have enought soapstone to finish the counters. They returned this week and finished the counters on the stove side of the kitchen. We are waiting to oil the counters until we get some finish on the cabinets.

Dick is back from Vacation.

Dick has been on vacation for the past week, and he got back on Monday. He is working on the wood trim in the kitchen and the big room.

The counter installers are comming back next week to complete the installation. They only had enough soapstone to do along the windows. They are also going to do a counter for the vanity in the bathroom.
The soapstone will be a lot darker after we oil it.

The contractors cut the soapstone with a diamond saw , and smoothed it with a grinder.

The kitchen counter has arrived.

The kitchen counters are made of soap stone, unlike granite the contractors build the counter inplace. We should have more pictures tomorrow.

We need a new table for the deck.

We just put the umbrella in the table last night, and this morning at 6:30 am there was a big crash.

The kitchen is starting to look like a kitchen

The kitchen appliances are installed and we are waiting for the counters. Dick is on vacation this week, so we are painting and installing heating baseboards. When Dick comes back, we will be picking the finish for the cabinets.

The closet is almost ready for paint. Dick installed the molding and baseboards; I got the heater installed and Linda picked up the storage baskets.

Painting the Bathroom

Linda is painting the bathroom. She has spent three days in the bathroom so far, two days priming and a day painting. Here she is on the phone with her mother, who wants to know when was Wills birthday. I'm surprised that it hasn't taken her longer.

Trim in the bedroom.

The trim has been installed on the bedroom windows and doors. The baseboard has been installed. The heat has also been installed in the bedroom, we are almost ready for paint.

Cocktail Party.

The neighbors were over on Friday for cocktails. When it got dark we needed to go inside to get away from the bugs. This was the first party in the new addition. It's easy to have a party in a construction area; you don't need to worry about dusting.

More Lunenburg Wildlife

We sit on the deck in the morning, have coffee and watch for wildlife. Here is a picture of a Blue Heron that roosts by the lake every couple of days. This picture was taken by holding the camera up to an eyepiece of a pair of binoculars.

What do you do with left over floor?

We went camping this weekend with my brother's family. I took the left over flooring to use as firewood. Some of the flooring was used as disposable cutting boards. My brother decided to build a dance floor at the camp site.
Ryan did arts and craft (wood burning) with flooring.
The boys built a house to burn in the fire.
