The guest bedroom progress.

The murphy bed is hiding in back of the new closet doors, and we used the old kitchen cabinets for storage. I will sand and finish the floors this weekend and then all we need is paint.

Fireplace almost done.

We are going to put tile over the bricks in the fireplace, and we will put glass in the arch over the hutch . There will also be lights on the front of the fireplace, so the fireplace is almost done.

Room with a view.

When my brother David came to visit, he suggested that we change the location of the toilet in the new bathroom. I have include two pictures with this post, one picture that was taken from the original location of the toilet and one picture that was taken from the actual location of the toilet. I think he made a good suggestion.

More work in the sewing room.

Dick will be installing beadboard in the sewing room today and the room with the fireplace should get some paint today. We hope we can get the house cleaned up for Thanskgiving.

The guest bedroom is done, except for a door knob.

Updated fireplace picture.

Dick has been working on the fireplace all week. I think he plans on finishing the fireplace by the end of the week. The front of the fireplace will be covered with a green tile, but the tile will not be in until the middle of December, so we may get the tile installed after Christmas.

Doors on the garage.

Over the weekend I installed the garage doors (getting ready for winter). As with all things, the installation did not go as smoothly as I had planned. There were missing parts for one of the doors, so both doors are installed, but only one door will open.

Wood for the fireplace.

Dick has started to work on the fireplace and a cabinet next to the fireplace. The wood has been delivered for the mantel. We have not had a fireplace since our first house, this should be fun.


I have include a before picture of the fireplace. You can see the design that Dick has done on the wall to get an idea of what the fireplace should look like when he is done.

Walls for the murphy bed.

Work in the old kitchen is progressing, the floors are in, the murphy bed frame has arrived, and Dick has started to frame in the walls.

Bathroom vanity counter is here.

Linda and I went back to New York on Friday morning to pick up the vanity counter top. We ordered this counter 2 weeks ago and it was ready on Wednesday. If the plumber doesn't come today to hook it up, I'll hook it up tonight.
